Pawan Hans Sale: Cayman Firm in Winning Bid Flayed By NCLT for Failure to Pay, Show Funding Plan

The privatisation of Pawan Hans Limited – the Indian government-owned helicopter operator – is shrouded in mystery. The entity that has acquired a controlling stake in Pawan Hans is Star9 Mobility Private Limited, a consortium led by a Dubai-based company about which little information is available. Indian regulators had imposed sanctions on this company, which appears not to have satisfied the eligibility criteria.

PSU Officials Conspired to Give Andhra Pradesh Coal Supply Contract to Adani Enterprises, CBI Alleges

In an FIR filed on 15 January by the CBI, three senior officials of the public sector company National Cooperative Consumer Federation have been accused of criminal conspiracy to manipulate tender proceedings to ensure that Adani Enterprises won a 2010 contract to supply imported coal to the Andhra Pradesh Power Generation Corporation. A regular case has been registered under sections of the IPC and the Prevention of Corruption Act against the officials and Adani Enterprises.

Regulatory authorities have interpreted rules in ways that have resulted in mounting losses for public sector electricity distribution companies while users are paying higher tariffs. The Supreme Court granted Adani Power Rajasthan Limited rights to claim over ₹2,500 crore from three Rajasthan discoms by passing through tariff increases to electricity consumers, despite a 2017 judgment forbidding such compensation.
